The body lies still
nothing moves
except the hum of throbbing fragments
sharp with thoughts
craving deeper

The body sinks
against a rock
hard to ignore the jagged nails
piercing (You)
stabbing the eyes through
the heart.

The body draws up
into a ball
held tight by the weight of the world
pressing deeper
into every burning

The body exhales
inaudible screams
released then arrested again
ice-thinned air fans
new flames
of oldest doubt.

The body awakes
by death consumed
fighting madness with words
of final peace
polished silver piercing
joint and marrow.

The body hears
a quiet light
exploding everything that always is
and ever has been wrong
and now is
