Silence

Silence is the hush
The cease of a strain;
It is the still of a thought
Before it needs speaking.

Silence is the thaw
Of cold opinionated air;
It is the peace of believing
That Truth will prevail.

Silence is the wait
An old want learning;
It is a hungry thirst content
While it’s still yearning.

Silence is the calm
The reading of His Word;
It is the ready of awaiting
Until the Lord returns.

  1. Rev. 8:1 When the Lamb broke the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

    All of heaven is silent in absolute awe in anticipation of the second coming of Jesus Christ.

  2. Ike, Rev 8:1 is simply astonishing, isn’t it?!!! I get goosebumps just thinking of that day!! Wow!

    (and a lighthearted note, my hubby used to say this verse proves a split-rapture theory – the women come a half hour later! :)

  3. Hope that there is great benefit for you by the break. May your break bring clarity of purpose for the blog and other areas of your life! And I look forward to your return! :)

  4. Petra,
    The second verse about the silence as a thaw but also implied as a peace to let opinionated cold go by because we believe the truth will prevail struck me on two levels, because I’ve been on both sides of that equation. It is so peaceful to sit in silence before the Truth Sayer and hear His Word in our hearts.
